DOKUCELL™ is not merely a cord blood bank that provides standard storage services. It is a STEM CELL, BIOBANK AND TISSUE ENGINEERING center with the capability to store many different types of tissues and, when necessary, produce stem cells (14+ different cellular products), holding GMP approval and a Ministry of Health license. In addition, with millions of dollars in R&D investments, it has the capability and infrastructure to develop tissue engineering products (gene therapies, cancer vaccines, immunotherapy products).
It has the capability to provide your baby and you, when needed in the future, with much more than the stored cord blood and tissue, quickly and effectively in accordance with technological requirements.
All Processes Under One Roof We process the cord blood and umbilical cord at the same center, perform all testing at the same center, and store them at the same center for many years. We do not receive stem cell production or storage services from other institutions or organizations.
Comprehensive Processing Protocol and Analysis We do not store cord blood in the condition in which it arrives at our facility. We process it, isolate and analyze the stem cells (hematopoietic stem cells), and then cryopreserve them in multiple tubes. If needed in the future, depending on the required quantity, we thaw and transfer the necessary amount while allowing the remaining stem cells to continue to be stored. This creates the opportunity for a second stem cell transfer and prevents all of the stem cells from being thawed and potentially wasted at once.
Assurance In the event that the hematopoietic stem cells required for the treatment of the child are not sufficiently available, our center undertakes to support families in obtaining a tissue-compatible stem cell from another center, including domestic or international centers.
All tissues stored at our center are covered by insurance. Our facility is equipped with 24/7 security cameras, password-protected access systems for both the laboratory and banking areas, real-time temperature monitoring and alarm systems, UPS, generators, and backup tank systems. Rather than relying on external companies for technical or malfunction support, we have a dedicated system maintenance officer at our center who is ready to respond to potential problems 24/7.
Validated Cold Chain We have taken our work seriously from the very beginning and transport cord blood and umbilical cord tissue in validated, insulated, specialized cold-chain bags.
Next-Generation State-of-the-Art Storage Tank Our facility is home to the world’s 9th and Europe’s FIRST NEXT-GENERATION storage tank. Long-term storage costs are high in cord blood banking. Instead of conventional nitrogen tanks that prioritize lower costs, our center uses state-of-the-art tanks that prioritize product safety, are capable of producing their own nitrogen, and offer mobility. The tank we use is the MVE FUSION model, manufactured in the United States by CHART, one of the world’s leading manufacturers. This tank minimizes fluctuations at temperatures of -150°C and below, enhancing product safety and supporting much longer-term secure cryopreservation.
In the event of a possible fire, earthquake, or disaster at the facility, our system prioritizes product safety and reflects our people-focused vision by being capable of producing its own nitrogen and being easily transferable to a secure location, unlike conventional tanks that require continuous nitrogen filling and have fixed connections.
Expert Team Our facility's Medical Director is a hematology specialist with 30 years of experience working in a bone marrow transplantation unit. He ensures that families have access to accurate and scientific information whenever they need it and stands by them at every stage with his expertise and experience.
Our company's Medical Director is Hematologist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cafer Aksoy. He has worked for many years (30+ years) as a physician responsible for bone marrow transplantation. Considering that one of the most important aspects of banking is the quality and adequacy of the service that will be provided when needed, his expertise in hematology (blood science) and extensive experience enable him to provide the treating physician with the most comprehensive, detailed, and accurate information regarding both the high-quality and safe storage of cord blood and any potential future need of the family (such as transplantation).
